MEANING OF RESEARCH IN HISTORY TEACHER TRAINING IN BRAZIL: CHALLENGES IN GLOBALIZATION TIMES

Abstract

Globalization can be understood as a process of transnationalization of economic, cultural and political phenomena. In this sense, it presents a special ambiguity individualized nature, which is the production of empirical social realities that can be looked at selectively and permeated with values. Thus, education policy has affected the relationship between the subjects in the school environment and the meanings they attribute to their practice human life and their actions, as is the case of teachers and their training. In Brazil, historically the formation of the history teacher has been tainted by struggles on the meaning of the teaching profession, as well as the struggle between the purposes of his work as a historian and teacher. The invention of this text is to think about the meaning of research in the process of teacher training and how research issues has been incorporated to the very methodological status of history teaching. Moreover, the research, while the process of historical knowledge production becomes essential as a constituent of the teacher’s work very nature, that by taking possession of objects, processes and procedures related to the production of knowledge, enables the overcoming of the division of work that historically separated those who produce knowledge in university and those who transmit at school. In the current globalization process in which teachers are blamed for the fragility of education, and the practicalism is a reference to their training, this overcoming presents challenges and limits, especially in emerging countries such as Brazil.
