DIGITAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS FOR RECENT HISTORY TEACHING IN SPAIN AND CHILE. PRESENTATION OF A HIGH SCHOOL DRAFT INTERVENTION
Main Article Content
Abstract
Recent history encompasses a series of historic processes which form part of the lives of one or more generations of current citizens. Its proximity to the current day and the surge in information and communication technology of the recent decades has propitiated the existence of abundant sources of information for the study of these processes.
From an educational perspective, the proximity to the current day and the experiences endured from the most part of the last century, confer a high didactic potential to this part of the past, thus allowing teachers to use a wide range of present historical sources in the TICs and link the contents with the family environment of adolescents, producing more motivating and comprehensible learning.
Therefore it is necessary, and constitutes the main objective of this pro- ject, to propose the inclusion of didactic models with a strong technological component, in relation to recent history, in the curriculum and investigate the resulting impact in secondary students’ learning and its influence on the development of historical thinking.
It is hoped that the elaboration and the application of innovative pro- posals by teachers to teach these processes will allow us to value these contents, granting them important role they should have, not only in the construction of historic knowledge of students, but also in moul- ding citizenship. The stated proposals will be fundamentally supported in technological educational material which will contribute to creating more active and efficient learning environments, eradicating exclusively transmissive methodologies strongly rooted in the History class.
