Abstract

In this article the most common practices of active learning for teaching political science are examined. Specifically, the method of simulation as a teaching practice that has the potential to improve the teaching-learning process of students and learn through personal experience stands out. The authors advocate the creation of educational programs involving simulation activities or sham procedures related to politics, based on the results of preliminary investigations. These investigations indicate that the students participating in simulation of socio-political experiences acquires relevant learning knowledge, skills and values that can encourage more active participation in the future. The need for more empirical studies on the application of such simulations is highlighted.
