HISTORY FROM LOCAL HERITAGE TEACHING: TEACHING STRATEGY PRESENTED IN A WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS OF VILLA DULCE CRAV

Abstract

This paper presents a teaching strategy for development of higher thinking skills from the concept of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which was presented at a workshop for teachers at John Kennedy School of Villa Dulce CRAV, introducing the heritage teaching as a topic in the classroom to achieve the knowledge of local history and geography by allowing the appraisement of the city’s heritage and identity linkages through the investigated community experiences, as well as from space geographical location where students and teachers live and perform their daily activities. Thus, being able to visualize that heritage didactics enables, through the method of the Historian and the observation of the geography, the understanding the development of a community at certain time and space and thereby assess their immediate cultural heritage.
